The game played at 8am, so the team that was more awake seemed to have the upper hand. Our boys came out and quickly jumped all over the opponent with some nice passing and creative 1v1 ability. Final score was 6-2 and the boys earned their second trip in a row to the Nor Cal State Cup Finals.
On Sunday the boys faced Newark Atlas. Our boys could have easily been down in the first 10 minutes 3-0 but Alex Mayer made some fantastic saves to keep the game even. Once the boys settled down they took the lead on a nice crossed finished by Sandor Pelle. The first half ended with the BOCA boys ahead 1-0. In the second half the team enjoyed great goal keeping by one of the U9 players playing up, Jacob Hall. The boys continued to put their stamp on the game by keeping possession and penetrating the defense with good passes or creative dribbling. Alex Mayer put the BOCA boys up 2-0 and Sandor Pelle finished the game off with a brilliant 1v1 effort to make it 3-0 and their first Nor Cal State Cup Championship. Last year the boys played in 2 finals and were finalists in both events.
This year the U10 boys have played in 3 finals and have won all 3 showing growth and learning how to compete and win games in stressful situations.
The best thing about both the U9 Boca Girls and the U10 Boca Boys teams is that they had younger players on each team playing up in age and contributing significantly. Way to go BOCA!!!
