Capital Athletic Announces Full-Time Staff

Capital Athletic Soccer Academy Boca JrsSACRAMENTO, CA – Capital Athletic Soccer Academy President/CEO Chris Vrame announced today the club has hired five full-time soccer staff members to direct CASA.

“I looked at a lot of different clubs and talked to a lot of different people and came to the conclusion that for our club to take the step to the next level, we needed to hire some full-time people to direct the club,” said Vrame.  “I believe we have put together a tremendous group of individuals who have a vast amount of soccer experience and that share a similar vision for our club and our youth players.”

Berhane Anderberhan has been hired as the full-time Technical Director for the club.  Anderberhan has experience as a US National Team coach and as a men’s (Cal State L.A.) and women’s (Cornell & Stanford) college head coach.  He is a USSF “A” licensed coach and was a member of the USSF National Staff for nearly 30 years.  He will be charged with overseeing the technical development of the club, teams and players.

Melissa Cavitt will be the full-time Director of Soccer Operations.  Cavitt, who is one of the founders of the Capital Athletic Soccer Club, (formerly Cavitt Academy) will be in charge of overseeing all of the soccer programs for the club on both the boys and the girls side.  She will work closely with Vrame and the other directors to develop new programs that will benefit all of the players.  So far the club offers a Skills Academy, Goalkeeper Academy, Speed Agility & Strength (SAS) Academy,  ACL Injury Prevention Academy and a Functional Training Academy.  These supplemental training programs take place throughout the year.  Cavitt is a former U20 National Team player and played her college soccer at the University of Portland for the legendary Clive Charles.  She has extensive club and high school coaching experience in the Sacramento area.

Brandon Cavitt will be the Youth Director of Coaching.  He will oversee the U8-U10 program and the development of those players.  Brandon is the other founding member of the Capital Athletic Soccer Club (formerly Cavitt Academy).  In just a few years Brandon has already created one of the most successful U8-U10 Training Programs in Northern California.  Brandon is a former professional soccer player with the Sacramento Knights and is the director of Cavitt Academy, which continues to be a thriving camp and personal training soccer entity.

Don Finley is the full-time Boys’ Director of Coaching.  His primary duties will include hiring and overseeing the boys coaching staff, assisting Anderberhan with the development of the curriculum, and overseeing the development of each boys’ team in the club.  Finley is a former player at Sacramento State and has been a very successful youth coach in Sacramento for a number of years.

Gabriel Bolton is the full-time Girls’ Director of Coaching.  He will be responsible for hiring and overseeing the girls coaching staff, assisting Anderberhan with the development of the curriculum, and overseeing the development of the girls’ teams in the club.  Bolton will also be the director for the College Assistance Program for Soccer (CAPS).

This is a comprehensive program designed to educate and assist all of the players in the club with the college recruiting process.  Monthly seminars are held on a variety of recruiting topics to help the players through the college process.  Bolton was a college coach for seven years at the Junior College, Division II and Division I levels.  From 2002-2005 he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Utah.  Anderberhan will also contribute his vast knowledge of both men’s and women’s college recruiting to CAPS and will also specifically assist those players interested in attending Ivy League universities which have some unique recruiting requirements.  Between Bolton and Anderberhan the boys and girls at Capital Athletic will be well equipped for the recruiting process.

“I think this is a big step for the future of our club and how we organize our club for many years to come,” said Vrame. “Most of the top clubs throughout the United States utilize a large full-time staff, and I believe this is the future of youth soccer in our country.  These directors will do a great job working with our outstanding coaching staff to develop our players athletically, academically, and personally.”

Capital Athletic also has hired Dave Underhill as a full-time Club Administrator.  Underhill will be responsible for the club administratively and will work closely with Vrame and Melissa Cavitt to make sure the club runs smoothly from an administrative standpoint.  Underhill is a former professional player and college coach, and he also works with Brandon Cavitt in the U8-U10 program.
