Berhane Andeberhan, Technical Director
The Coaching Subgroups
In keeping with our efforts to become a genuine club, we have reorganized our teams into working subgroups each with a subgroup leader. Each team will have a head coach and in some cases assistants. While each coach will concentrate primarily on their own team, the groups will work in such a way as to give all coaches some familiarity and appreciation of all the teams in their subgroup. This method has many advantages to the teams and the coaches. The subgroup leader is a head coach of his/her own team but serves to coordinate the common activities of the subgroup.
One immediate change has been that during the selection process the subgroup coaches are participating with respective head coaches in assisting them with the selection process. For example, decisions on whether players should play up on an older team are decided collectively by the subgroup coaches. Another significant advantage is that when for any reason a coach has to miss a practice or game, a member of the subgroup can cover them with the built in advantage of established familiarity with the team.
As we proceed the coaches will meet frequently to review the coaching ideas and practices and make sure that there is unity and continuity in our coaching. Keeping in mind the need to lay a sound foundation, they will streamline their coaching concepts so that as players go from one age group to another there can be some sound assumptions of where the players are in their development and where to lead them. By organizing common events such as play dates and coordinated plans to attend the same tournaments when possible, the staff can enhance unity and efficiency of travel and coordinate relevant common activities.
We continue to have coaching meetings with all the coaches involved and the issues discussed are made more relevant to each subgroup. We are as an overall coaching staff committed to streamlining our technical and tactical training of all our teams and the subgroup is where the practical implementation takes place.

JOIN THE BOCA TEAM for the Komen Sacramento Race for the Cure®
|
|
Melissa Cavitt
Dear Friends and Family,
The Boca players and I recently accepted the challenge to raise contributions to support the Komen Sacramento Race for the Cure® on May 12, 2007 in the fight against breast cancer. One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime, the money we raise will go to breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our own community and support the national search for a cure.
Click on the link below to visit our personal page and make a contribution to show your support, or to join our team.
Please join the BOCA players and myself in the fight by contributing in support of our participation in the Race or contributing generously to the Komen Saacramento Race for the Cure. Your tax-deductible contribution will fund innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved communities in Sacramento Valley and national breast cancer research. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a contribution online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. If you would prefer, you can also send your tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.
Sincerely, Melissa Cavitt
